Chicken Popcorn

Today’s kitchen adventure turned comfort food into a spicy bite-sized delight using a trio of Amapelepele favourites with guest cook Semami Kalane, a Vooka Breakfast Show viewer.

Ingredients

For the chicken:

  • 2 chicken fillets (cut into bite-sized cubes)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp Amapelepele Smoked Paprika
  • 2 tbsp Amapelepele Chicken Spice
  • 1 tbsp Spice O’ Season
  • Bread crumbs for coating
  • Chopped parsley for garnish
  • Cooking oil for frying

For the fries:

  • Potatoes (cut into chips)
  • 1 tbsp Amapelepele Chip Spice
  • Cooking oil for frying

Method

  1. Prep the Chicken Coating
    Mix flour with Smoked Paprika, Chicken Spice, and Spice O’ Season. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl.
  2. Coat the Chicken
    Dip each chicken piece into the flour spice mix, then the egg mixture, and finally coat with bread crumbs.
  3. Fry the Popcorn Chicken
    Deep fry the coated chicken until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  4. Crispy Fries
    Fry the potato chips until golden, then toss with Amapelepele Chip Spice for extra flavour.
