CAF Confederation Cup: Kaizer Chiefs announce 23 players to Egypt. 

Kaizer Chiefs travel to Egypt with a 23‑man squad for their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Zamalek SC on Sunday, 15 February. Chiefs lead Group D with 10 points and need only a draw to reach the quarterfinals. Notable absences include Inacio Miguel, Luke Baartman and injured striker Etiosa Ighodaro. The squad features key players such as Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma, Mduduzi Shabalala, Gastón Sirino, Khanyisa Mayo and Ashley Du Preez. Chiefs’ continental history includes their 2001 Cup Winners’ Cup triumph but mixed results since. 

Khotso Mokoena backs Luvo Manyonga for Commonwealth Games return. 

Khotso Mokoena has backed Luvo Manyonga’s comeback, confident he’ll qualify for the 2026 Commonwealth Games after serving a four-year ban. Manyonga, now 35, returned in December 2024 and is showing promising form in Europe, aiming for the 8.05m standard. Mokoena praised his renewed positivity and mental strength, noting long jump’s decline in South Africa since Manyonga and Ruswahl Samaai’s peak. He believes Manyonga’s resilience and hunger can revive the discipline, with the athlete targeting the national title in Stellenbosch this April as part of his rebuilding process.
